My daughter goes to a grammar school fourteen miles away from where we live. A lot of the girls commute in via school bus and the school is very aware of this, so the majority of clubs are at lunchtime to accommodate them getting home. I would say the exceptions are sports matches (not an issue for us!) and the school play rehearsals (of which there are two lots every year as the girls join the play at the boys school and vice versa)
