Is it too late for a tutor?

At a recent parent teacher night for dd her teacher advised that she is falling behind the rest of her class and is slipping towards the bottom. She is also lacking self confidence in her work.

DD sits her entrance exam for an Independent School at the beginning of January. Is it too late to arrange tutoring for her?

No. But you might get further by finding out what the entrance test entails and working on specific areas that will help your daughter in that exam.

Thanks for responses. She is OK in herself but she lacks confidence to work independently. Socially she is confident. Her teacher advised some key areas to focus on with her and we are doing extra revision and feeding back to the teacher so she can help reinforce and congratulate her on any successes. I am just wondering if a professional tutor would do a better job than dh and I.

She has never been super academic but has always been around the middle of the class until now so this came as a bit of a surprise.

It is never too late for a tutor especially if they have a track record with the school you are interested in. It is very concerning for you to hear that she is slipping towards the bottom of the class and this is the first time you have been told about it. Working towards the indy exam should really help her with her school work. What areas is the school you are interested in? DG
