Hi there,

Saw this article and wondered what other routes there are to doing 11+ preparation without spending a fortune:

These are all good points. Resources are not the issue. There are lots of papers that can be downloaded free of charge.

The point about making time to DIY is a good one.

Turn off the TV and the Ipads and the phone and sit with your dc and do an hour of revision.

Some parents don't want to do it themselves but if you want to then there are plenty of materials out there to help you.

If you do a search on this forum of the school you are interested in you should find lots of tips.

If you do decide to tutor make sure you speak to a parent who used the tutor and got a place for their dc in the school you are interested in last year and not five years ago when the tests were different and there were half the number of applicants. Don' t take a written reference, get an email written now or speak to them. You might find they were also using another tutor or going to classes or doing lots at home. DG

That's a good point about getting a recommended tutor.
