We have one. Very useful. Had bought it few years back for DC1 for his 11plus preparation. Now being used by DC2.

We have Seiko ER6700. New models may have come out since.

My child has one too. It is quick and easy to use. Definitely worth a buy. It's a Casio From Argos.

My DS has an electronic bookmark, which is great as a portable alternative. We bought it from Bright Minds but I think you can get it cheaper from Amazon/Ebay.

In my experienc eyou need to check that the dictionary these things contain has sufficient entries for the word your child looks up to be likely to be in there. They all differ.

A thesaurus is good too - if they can't understand the definition they can get the gist of the meaning from some synonyms.

Out of interest, do you your children's primary school let them use an electronic dictionary during independent reading time?
