Monday March 27th BBC2 7.00pm

The Schools Lottery

'I remember when I failed the 11+ my parents were crying' says inventor, Trevor Bayliss; Sandie Shaw was only told after her exam that her grandad had died two days previously. A brief series about that thorny parental dilemma - choosing your child's school - opens with reflections on education and expectation in the '50s and '60s from Shaw and fellow celebs. Next week, the lengths today's parents go to get their kids into the right school.

Here's a bit more info on tonights show

The Schools Lottery BBC2 7pm to 8pm

Every parent of a 10 year old child knows the dilemma involved in getting their children into the best school. But do today's poorer kids get a better chance than they would have had 40 years ago?

Sounds interesting viewing, I shall certainly be watching
