Exam Day
The following e-mail has been reproduced with the kind permission of a mother whose daughter sat the Essex 11 plus exams in 2005:

"The walk to take the test; slow march, quiet whispering amongst mums and girls, ooh "look she's got two pencils and a sarnie", "I told you, you should have bought a pencil case!"
Anyway, get there, drop off, walk round Colchester Town for three hours sending DERREN BROWN style messages to daughters head!
Pick her up and cry. Thank God, it's over, what a palaver. Whatever happened to just sitting at your own school desk and taking the 11 plus?
Our society has gone mad!
How many marks is a pass?
How many questions did your daughter finish?
Are you in catchment?
What have her practise paper results been like?
Had you covered George Elliot?
Answer; Does it all really matter? If you are meant to pass and go to your chosen school then so be it, but in the meantime, do sleep well. don't have nightmares, March is a long way off and there aint a thing we can do about it.
