Anyone's kids flagging now?
Feeling a bit desperate now we're at the start of the summer hols. Been tutoring for 10 months but if anything we seem to be going backwards and scores are going down rather than improving. Is this just a case of tiredness/DD had enough?
Did a mock recently and DD got lowest score ever for Maths.
Worried.
Anyone else's child the same?

Have a break from school/11+ work - it's important that they have time to refresh after a long school year.

Quite normal. Give them a week off entirely. All kids need a recharge and if you shove on when the signals are that they meed a break, they may rebel completely and refuse to do anything later! Ignore the sliding scores, it's nothing to donwith ability dropping, just a sign that they are bored. 11 plusstuff all feels "samey" after a while, so a break will do you both good.

Thank you for your replies. I think you're right. We're taking a week off next week to go on holiday. Feels long overdue. But also worry that the sliding marks are affecting self esteem. Will be so glad when this is over. It's rotten for kids who are barely 10
Re: Anyone's kids flagging now?
Absolutely normal and common, DS had massive dips in performance, both at the end of year 5 and just before half term in year 6 and he managed to do really well in January for the indies. Have a proper holiday now and she will come back refreshed and stronger. Fail to provide a holiday and she will burn out and have nothing left in the tank when it will matter.

This is very common, we went through this, a proper break and lots of encouragement. It will be over before you know it

I'm finding it hard to get the balance right. I've been waiting for ages for dd to break up from school so she could focus on 11+ preparation without worrying about school homework. Now the holidays are here, I don't know how much to do with her.
We've been doing a bit each day so far but it just seems relentless. Roll on 9th September!
She's been doing well and has had pretty good mock results. So do I give her a proper break or carry on doing a bit each day? Or a few times a week?
