My two local Secondary schools (only in Catchment for one of them, the worst one) are both really bad, Results are way below national and LA averages, Ofsted, both require improvement and feedback from parents who have their children there is very negative, socially and academically.

My DD and DS took the 11+ in two regions, not because I desperately wanted them in Grammar schools but because I felt it was my only logical choice and wasn't willing to take any chances.

Best of luck
If you need to move because your current catchment schools are awful then it's less risky to move next door to a good comp (one whose main admissions criteria is distance from school) than to rely on getting a place at a GS.

Have you considered Camden School for Girls? It used to be a fantastic comprehensive for girls - could have changed but worth reading about it online.

Henrietta Barnett as a super-selective grammar maybe?

If you like living close to all the things that can be done in London, I would certainly hesitate before moving to Kent for move than seven years of schooling.

Camden School for Girls still is a fantastic comprehensive for girls and boys can join in the sixth form.

They are very well supported by the local community and the parents who come and present on a variety of topics in the Sixth form master classes. I recently attended a very interesting presentation by Robert Peston the political editor of ITN news and they have after school parents forums on subjects such as social media and bullying with specialist guests that are open to all parents.

Unusually for a state school they offer Latin to A level and Greek to AS level.

They just had a major extension partly funded by the efforts of the parents on the OSA and large number of events to raise money.

Francis Mary Buss would be very proud if she could see what they have made of her second school. DG
