Re: Rewards for doing the 11plus tutoring
We did give my ds a laptop after his exams. Quite a big reward but it ment that I got my computer back and he had something to do his homework on.
He also got hot chocolates after doing revision.

We simply booked a family lunch out for the day of the 11+ - and did not discuss the exam at it at all.
Re: Rewards for doing the 11plus tutoring
DD and some of her friends who also did it went out for tea after the exam, as a reward and celebration that it was over.
Best to reward the effort, if you do reward the result, then don’t tell them you intend to do it this so they don’t get the double disappointment of also not getting the reward on top of not getting the result.

I've told my DD she can have her ears pierced after the exam. Effort driven not results.

We also surprised DD with a treat after the exams finished and made it clear it was for her hard work (not attainment).
Re: Rewards for doing the 11plus tutoring
The evening after the exam DS2 had pizza delivered at home (rare occurrence and his favourite) and we all had a ‘floor picnic’ and fizzy drinks.
He also got an electric pencil sharpener which he had asked for.
Again, all effort and not results driven (didn’t know the results at the time).
Think he had a few extra sweets along the way to keep him motivated!

Ha ha this was our reward too!
Re: Rewards for doing the 11plus tutoring
We had a nice meal after the final exam and lots of ice-cream! A week before the results came out I got all his friends over for a party just because he is awesome. After they left I told him it was because he deserved a surprise for the hard work he put and the result didn't matter.
DS2 taking the exam this year has said he is looking forward to his surprise party

We bought him an Xbox and told him to relax and enjoy his free time before he starts GS in September. This strategy has worked before. Older DC enjoyed his freedom and really buckled down for Year 7.

We took our DD to the circus and then her & a groups of friends who also sat the sat the test to an escape room and for pizza afterwards.
