Hi
We have the option to let our DS sit a mock exam for one school, the day before the VR exam for another grammar school. Is that unwise? Too much stress?!
Any advice welcome....

I would not sit a mock exam the day before a real exam.

It could go really badly and knock your confidence for the real thing.

You need enough time to learn from your mistakes before you take another exam. DG

The time to sit mock exams is now.

It is 11 weeks before the exams so it gives you time to work on the things that did not go well.

St Olaves still has slots am and pm this Sat 15th and next Sat 22nd June.

They are offering Multiple Choice English and Maths and VR and NVR..

Just guess the NVR but worth going for DAO, Latymer HBS and QE.

I would not sit mocks any later than June. DG

A mock exam the day before is not a good idea. Your DS will be sitting a long and demanding test the next day so to put them through one 24 hrs before is likely to leave them drained.

Remember that, if you do administer a mock the day before, it won't be beneficial unless there is an opportunity to go over the paper with them. That will likely be another hour or so of focus.

As has been advised, the time to go for mocks is around now to 8 weeks before. Rest and get a good night's sleep the day before.
