Please could anyone who had experience with this - is it better to take different tests on different days, to spread pressure?

I'm not sure I understand your question, it is not something you have a choice about generally, a DC has to sit the exam the day it is held.

Do you mean, enter your DC for exams in several different areas? ( In which case, it is only a strategy for 'spreading pressure' if they would stand a reasonable chance of being ranked highly enough according to the other entry criteria - place of residence etc - of the schools concerned to achieve a place; fewer schools now just award places on score alone). As mad? says, for any individual exam, the choice of when to take it isn't really yours.
