Covid 19 and enhanced respect for teachers and tutors

One thing I have learnt during this pandemic is that there is no way I have the patience or skill to home tutor for the 11 plus!! I have already booked my spot for Y5 now.

For all the teachers, tutors and educators out there, you have my unswerving admiration!!

Good luck! Even with a tutor for an hour or two a week, you probably will end up playing quite a big role in helping them go through practice books and understand any areas there are difficulties with. A tutor is great for motivation, tips and the trickier bits though.

Overeager dad, I was a primary school teacher, specialising for many years in interventions and 1:1 teaching.

Teaching my own children was a nightmare. I have a degree in chemistry and my 12yr son refused to believe me when I showed him how to do his chemistry homework until his “real” teacher said I was right. He was still amazed that I had known what to do.

Thank you for appreciating teachers. It’s not as easy as it looks
