Dear All,

Hope all is well. Just wondering if anyone could give me some advice please? Basically my DD is in Year 4 and will be attending Year 5 after summer holiday. She seems to be keen to work on 11Plus. Though we live in SW14 area (East Sheen in Richmond). Just wondering if anyone know which grammar school (non-paying ones) we will be able to apply for her in the future please? Ideally without moving home, but we are willing to travel on a daily basis and I will be driving to drop/pickup etc.

Just so we know what options we have and what we need to work on. I would be really grateful.

Thank you so much in advance!!

Why does she want to do the 11+? Has she got local friends who are doing it? If so, which schools are they interested in?

If your daughter can get to Kingston or Cheam stations, she could try for Tiffin Girls or Nonsuch. The drive to Kingston might be OK, not to Nonsuch though.

Hi dreamcity, maybe check out the Sutton folder/ information on Sutton schools? I would think that's the sort of area you're looking at.

Thanks a lot!! For some strange reasons, DD finds 11+ interesting although very challenging...

Will their admissions be based purely on test scores please? Or will it also depend on distance from school to home etc? Meaning we will need to move home?

Is Wallington High School for Girls any good? Also, is there any other school in/around London (11+) that we will be able to apply please?

Many thanks!

If you look on the website for each school they will have the admissions criteria there. They will vary between school & can change year on year so it's best to double check.

We loved Wallington High and applied there for our DD.

Not all schools will suit all children. For example, we didn't like Wilsons for our DS (it's a boy's grammar in Sutton) but for most people, Wilsons seems to be the 'best' choice. We preferred Sutton Grammar because we were choosing for our own son, not someone else's.

Hopefully the schools will be able to hold open days in September and you'll be able to get a feel for which schools you like. Do make sure you visit your local schools as well as the grammars - you might find you prefer one of them, and it will be much easier for your DD to go to a local school than one that's far away.

The SW14 postcode is in the “designated area” for the Tiffin Girls’ School. See clause 5.4 in this document.

TGS is an academically-selective state school (no fees). There’s a bus stop outside the school for the 65 bus route from Richmond train station or bus station. Driving would also be feasible, although you’d need to allow plenty of time because of traffic.

Tiffin Girls' School has a designated area; see the determined admission arrangements. Use the journey planner. Note the Admissions timetable and FAQs.
