It probably does depend on the school, but there are grammar schools around where the children do little more than familiarisation and there is not the large scale tutoring that exists in some places.

The amount of work your daughter needs to do will depend on the school she is aiming for. Not sure if there's a girls equivalent of QE boys but someone has posted an analysis of their results. I doubt anything but a full on concerted effort would be rewarded with a place. And if I had a £1 for every parent that has told me their child did very little work....I could have educated mine privately.

I agree that you should give it a bit of a rest. If that stresses you, then play Scrabble / do crosswords etc and read more advanced books with her. That way she will be gaining vocab without all the testing.
