I don’t think that is at all unusual for a reception class! Your son has got years until he takes the 11plus, so he has plenty of time to learn his times tables. Year 1 will probably be the last year that he gets to do ‘playing’ as part of his school day. He won’t get that time back again. I’m very much an advocate of letting early years children explore and learn through play rather than structured lessons…. he’ll get all that in abundance when he is older!East-West Parenting wrote:Thank you everyone. Our son’s infant school is not great at differentiation. He is doing 2, 5 and 10 timetables at home but the school is still doing counting with reception class.
