Child needs to call teachers to rub answers off

Hello
I just wanted to explain the experience my daughter had today with the 11+ in a certain council and get your views on the situation.

The pupils were prevented from bringing their rubbers into the exam room and were told to raise their hands when they needed something rubbed out. There were only two teachers in a room of 30 children!

Us parents are outraged because the children would have lost time waiting for the teachers to rub out their answers instead of working through the paper.

Also can I just add that this was not to give the child a rubber but for the teachers ( they took the test at there school) to rub it out for them. They told them so they don't crease the answer paper.
That is interference on a childs paper. I am really fuming. They have disvantage our children.

This is just dreadful.

How can they be carrying on with the rest of the paper when they have to sit there with one hand up trying to catch the eye of the invigilator.

Whoever thought this up had no idea just how many answers would need to be changed.

Were other students in other rooms being left to do their own rubbing out?

No. Any child that need anything rubbed out had to put their hand up for the teacher to come and physically do the rubbing out for the child.

What to bring to the test
Children should bring two sharp HB pencils, an eraser and a pencil sharpener in a clear bag or case. Spare pencils, erasers and pencil sharpeners will be available at the test centre if required. A wristwatch may be worn, but there will be a clock in every centre and time reminders will be given during the test. Children may also bring a small bottle of water and a small snack for the break between the test papers. Please do not send your child with fizzy or sticky drinks. No other equipment is required or allowed. Mobile phones and all other personal items must be left at the side of the room while the test takes place

There appears to be no reason for banning rubbers. Lodge a complaint referring to the above leaflet.

Yes it is.
We intend to lodge a complaint but not sure should we go directly to the selection team/local authority?
Or get answers from the school first then lodge a complaint.

I suspect you would be best to highlight this problem promptly & formally with the selection team and the school - ask for acknowledgement . May also be worth phoning the selection team to discuss as they may well have had other parents doing similar
