From the 11+ materials I’ve sourced I’ve not seen a question asking for the area of a trapezium, radius and ellipse (not heard of the latter). Similarly, “Pythagorean triples” - the examples threw me!

Can anyone suggest/direct me to a source(s) that provides a more thorough understanding of these rules? I would also like to obtain a copy of the National Numeracy Strategy framework for year 7.

All comments/suggestions are welcome. Many thanks.

My eldest daughter came across some of these mathematical area questions (e.g. area of trapezium, square, circle, rectangle) in her entrance exams for a private school two years ago. I am aware that Pythagoras is also common in maths exams at this level from my husband who teaches mathematics. The triples mentioned in this website are simply three numbers that can make up the sides of a right-angled triangle. The questions at this level are quicker if children can recognise the numbers, for instance 3,4,5 is a set since 3 squared + 4 squared = 5 squared.
