Re: during the rest of Year 6?
Assuming you supported them through the whole ridiculous and crazy times leading up to the 11+, and assuming you don’t want to be continuing to do the same for the next seven years, gently back off. Their next school will be taking over from your hard work, so give them an enjoyable final year.

Most definitely! I can’t endorse this enough, having worked with year 6 for a very long time. Their last term is important, they learn so much that isn’t just academic.Sparklecat wrote:Assuming you supported them through the whole ridiculous and crazy times leading up to the 11+, and assuming you don’t want to be continuing to do the same for the next seven years, gently back off. After the 11+ we just did what school asked us to - no more. Nothing further for SATs either. DD enjoyed the rights of passage that came -YR6 trip to London, the end of year production, leaver assembly, afternoon of leavers activities & pizza etc. There is plenty of work to come so let them enjoy the first couple of years of secondary without too much stress! We also encouraged more independence & decision making - like letting to go to some shops on her own etc.

Please don’t worry about your child falling behind.
As other posters have said them have fun and enjoy the rest of yr6. Children grow up far too quickly, this is the last time for ages when there are no expectations.
My children’s yr 6 was covid disrupted so no SATS and very little in the way of school work (I.e. next to nothing). They’re now in yr 8 and doing well.
Enjoy the remaining months until September!

enjoy the rest of primary, work out the travel required to new school and new routine required.
