Hello Everyone,
I have been preparing for the Newstead Wood. My daughter is normally getting 80 out of 85 and i am wondering if this is good enough. She will be going on Friday. Is anyone's daughter taking a test in Newstead Wood?
kind Regards and Good Luck

Hi

My DD will be taking the test too.

Your daughter's scores sound great - a really good base - is that the VR? How is she doing on the NVR?

I think you can never really predict how the kids are going to do. For many its the first real test they have come across. It all depends on the scores on the day, how they cope with the pressure, etc.

She sounds well prepared. As long as she remains calm, doesn't get too bogged down on one question I'm sure she'll be fine.

We've take our foot right of the pedal now. A few relaxed 10 mins every evening and what will be will be.

I wish all the kids the very best of luck

PS. Mass bonfire in my garden on Saturday - all papers are being burnt!!

That's an interesting way to forget all about 11+.Yes that is on the VR. She doesn't do as well on NVR. She gets around 64 out of 72.I am kind of nervous about that score. Will your session be in the first?

Your DD's scores sound great :)

My DD is sitting the exam in the second sitting. How about you?

As I said I think now is the time to boost their confidence, get them to relax and hopefully perform well on the day!

We haven't done any full papers for a fair few weeks, probably a month, apart from the Kent and Bexley tests. I'm finding sitting down with her and going through the paper together is working well. Hopefully the results will tell me I got the strategy right!!

My DD will be in the first session. I think the sessions are based on where you live, how far.
i am thinking of not letting my daughter go to school on Thursday so she can relax and free her brain.
By the way i think its a good idea that your daughter isn't doing a test at the moment.

Hi

We went this morning, very busy !

I quite like the school. Had the opportunity to chat with both pupils and teachers.
Pupils seemed happy and content.
The school, however, does seem to be a little run down - it's clean but seems a little tired.
The ICT facilities at Beaverwood were much better.

All in all, if I was offered a place I'd send my DD.

That's good to hear. I agree that it looks run down because when i went to submit the SIF, I saw that their art room was quite in bad state, their pallets were are dirty but I still want my daughter to attend . Thank you for the feedback.
Which primary school does your DD attend?

Hi

Having completed lots of practice papers (includong GL and bond) where our dd consistently scored around 90%, today we gave here the sample questions from Newstead Wood. She found the NVR much more challenging, and came up with feasible answers, but not the answers given. She scored 73% and was very disappointed.

How have your dds found the sample questions for Newstead Wood?

Thanks for any opinions on these questions.
