Anyone know how and when we receive them?

Are they directly posted or given to our HTs?

I found Friday fairly horrendous! One poor boy in my ds's exam room lost it and wanted to go home after half an hour :-(

So glad it's over!

Normally do you know what % of marks are required for getting a place

For example 80% in both maths and english ? is it good enough to be first 100?

You don't get offered a definite place, there are a number of categories (or there were last year):

'Likely' to be offered a place - as definite as you're going to get
'Probably' - pretty good chance
'Possibly' - depends how many people who did better than you, accept their places but you're in with a chance
Unlikely - speaks for itself.

I don't think you find out what % you got - the top 112 (I think it is) boys get likely letters and as some of those wont take up their places, they also offer 'probablys' to a number below that.

Last year there were just 3 categories of Likely, Possibly and Unlikely. "Probably" got mentioned on the forum a few times but didn't actually exist. I think some people just confused Possibly with Probably.

Good luck to everyone awaiting this year's results.

Does anyone actually ever get to know what percentage their children got? or what rank they were on?

I think if you go to appeal you may find out, although its pretty black & white really.

I think from Open Day I understood there to be more places this year. 120 plus 4 choir students?

Sorry Bondgirl, my mistake - DS's best friend took the exam and I was quoting him! (note to self: don't rely on an 11 year old :) )

  No problem! DS took the test last year, hence why I'm pretty sure of the 3 categories. It could of course be different this year but I'm sure candidates will have been told in joining instructions.
