Bexley 11+ - how did they find it?

How did your kids find the new CEM 11+?

Mine said it was tight for time, with no time for checking. He finished most sections but had to guess a few from the rest, with reshuffled sentences being the hardest for time. He seemed calm and I think is just pleased it is over now. :D

My DC found the maths and nvr tightest for time. 25 questions in 7 mins for the VR.

Much harder than the familiarisation test - or the kent test.

Glad it's all over - now for the results.

Not sure you can say yet but were those fast v r question spotting synonyms and antonyms or shuffled sentences? At 17 seconds per question they could not have required too much thought?

My ds said the content was not overly hard but the timing was tough.
He had to guess one or two at the end of some sections and other sections finished by the skin of his teeth!
The shuffled sentences were similar to the CEM material available so he had practised those fortunately. However I heard a lot of moans about those :-/

Due to the timing he felt he performed worse than St olaves or the Kent.

Everyone he has chatted to today felt the same with regard to the tightness of time.

There were tears in the exam room from other candidates he said due to the time pressure :-( poor dc ***

The very fast sections (I believe) were

28 NVR in 6 minutes

Synonyms/Antonyms ? questions in 7 or 8 minutes

Reshuffled sentences 18 questions in ... 10 minutes??

Reading comp 25 questions 15 minutes

Can anybody fill in any info here about content, to help future cohorts with what to expect?

I don't understand why they are making it so much difficult ? Are these the exams for Oxbridge ? Is this the end of the world ? What are they trying to prove here, there schools are the best ?

I don't see any of all the 4 grammar's in bexley performing in the top for A levels. They don't have great rankings.

Nwood and DGGS are some of the grammar schools which are performing consistently and they don't have that tough selection criteria.

So bexley exam organizers, relax , let the kids be kids and may be concentrate on improving your results , than to be super selective

All the best to all the parents and there lovely kids who braved bexley

Oh good grief. Can that really be right? The NVR would have to be really easy for any of them to finish .... or are the children told to just try as many as they can? When you do a MENSA written IQ test you are told just to get through as many as you can. Is this the same?
