St Olave - Sep 2015 Entrance test - one level or two levels?

Checking the website, 2015/16 is same as old way. 2016/17 is a draft admissions policy but I guess it will be made permanent. My son will be in the 16/17 cohort - typical. I assume the change is so that the school don't have to mark over a thousand pieces of creative writing! Just around 250 instead.

Yes, it makes sense but it will mean that we won't know the results before the CAF has to be in I presume. It might mean a 'wasted' choice on the form if ds doesn't get the 'likely' letter.

Just to get my head straight..this new 2 test proposal is for children taking the test in 2016 right? 2015 sitters will still follow the current test?

My DS sits the test this year in 2015 so I guess he escaped the new rule.

Called up school on 9-Jan. The Sep 2015 entrance test will be two levels. They welcome feedback and suggestions from parents via email regarding the draft admission policy

Post the second level test, receiving "Likely" "Possibly" and "Unlikely" letters before 31-Oct (CAF submission deadline) will be very useful, I think.

The consultation document doesn't say how many. I would think that they'll allow at least twice the number of places on offer, possibly more.

I agree that it's likely to be at least double, perhaps triple. For 2015 entry, HBS selected a top 300 group from round 1, of whom they can take 93 (maybe up to 100, it's opaque). Without checking back, I think TGS invited 450 candidates to sit round two for 150 places. No idea about Sutton.

The policy is in draft stage. If approved, it would apply to this Sep exam. Welcome to the world of 11+

a) Number of students to qualify for the second round
b) Format of first round

My wild guess (please don't quote me for this) is:
a) Number of students to qualify for the second round: 372 (3 times)
b) Format of first round: MCQ - Eng + Maths (45 mins each, no NVR, incl VR, incl compre)

Does anyone know if the following two exam dates are confirmed for St Olaves?

1. First level test on Friday, 18th September 2015
2. Second level test on Friday, 13th November 2015
