My daughter is currently in year 5 and I appreciate that this is an 11 plus forum but my default secondary school if she doesn't get into Newstead will be Darrick wood. I'm happy for this to be a back up plan but I've heard that the catchment has shrunk this year. Does anyone know how much by? :? We are on leamington ave BR6.

My friend who is 1.15 miles from Darrick didn't get in and on offer day in March got her second choice. I am 1.5 miles out so no chance for us. You look very close so hopefully might be ok???? Bromley should publish the catchment for past few years in this year's moving onto secondary booklet due out later this spring. The last one mentioned it had been as small as 0.9 but that was a high sibling year. A planning application has been granted for a site next door to the school for 90 houses which won't help the situation depending on when they are completed and how many families with children the same age as your DC are wanting places. My friend's DD also sat Bexley and Kent grammars as back up in case didn't get Darrick and they were very glad they did, her DD is going to Wilmington. My DD is also in Y5 so we are trying to keep as many doors open as possible. All the best.
