Bexley test passmark

Post by amfnc »

Hi all,

I have a friend who's DS scored 214.8 and as such was deemed non-selective (apparently one of two in their school with the same mark). I know of another child who scored 214.6 and also non-selective. It is just me or does this seem an bit brutal? (DS has now been working all half term on "work set by teacher" as part of the "teacher appeal/review process" - various pieces of writing/maths etc. that the teacher wants to submit for their review).

Just wondered what people's thoughts were, I'd never heard of a decimal score before. Can't help but think that giving them a score of 214 (or indeed 215) is slightly less harsh ...

There has to be a cut off somewhere though? These kids are just very unlucky.

There will also be kids who missed top 180 by 0.5 of a mark -similarly gutting.

They do say that they round the marks down on the results sheet - if they didn't then the pass mark and top 180 mark would just move up slightly (say from 215 to 216) to compensate.
