Re: Results Bexley 2016
Hello,
Just got a result of 236. If we live in Bexley do we need just to be deemed selective to get a place in grammar school but they can give us not the first choice but our second?

It's not down to whether you live in Bexley - it's distance from the school.
If your first choice school fills all its places with 'selective' candidates before going as far our out as you are, then you would not get a place - but could get a place at a second choice grammar school if you re one of the nearer candidates.
If not successful on 1 march you can then choose to remain on the waiting list - odds are that living in Bexley you'll be relatively close to most of the grammar schools and would get a place eventually if not straight away?

How does it work on CAF if one is in 'Top 180' ? Does it matter where on CAF do you add in your school ?

Yes, if you have a school you want above a Bexley school put that first. Then in order of your preference. If a Bexley school is your first choice put it first otherwise you may get the other school.workingmom wrote:How does it work on CAF if one is in 'Top 180' ? To add to that, if you mean, 'now we've got a guaranteed place at the Bexley grammar of our choice, will we be allocated that grammar place wherever we put it on the CAF?', then the answer is No. If you want to take up that Bexley grammar school place more than you want a place at any other school, then put the Bexley grammar at the top of your list. The system doesn't 'seek out' the school that you really want and offer it to you, you will only be allocated the school highest up your ranked list of preferences for which you qualify.PettswoodFiona wrote:Yes, if you have a school you want above a Bexley school put that first. If you want your child to attend a Bexley school and they are in the top 180 you don't need to put a list of schools on the CAF at all. You are guaranteed your place at the Bexley (grammar) school of your choice so just need to put one school on the 'list' and you will get it. What was the pass mark/top 180 mark this year? I haven't been able to find it yet.

How can that be true?!! What if every single person who qualified in Bexley put teh same school down? They couldn't possible guarantee them all a place at that particular school!!saltydog wrote:If you want your child to attend a Bexley school and they are in the top 180 you don't need to put a list of schools on the CAF at all. Bexley grammar schools have a larger intake than other grammars: Bexley, Beths and Chis Sid all have 192 spaces, Townley 224. That is why thy can offer guarantee to the top 180.kenyancowgirl wrote:How can that be true?!! What if every single person who qualified in Bexley put teh same school down?
