As a former parent of a child at a superselective grammar I would say the pressure on students comes from all sides, from the schools which will ditch them if they end year 12 with a B and from the parents who over-tutor their offspring, as they must go to Oxbridge! We then wonder why these schools have high numbers of mental health issues.

Jumping before being pushed. The only way really as if he was pushed he probably had no chance of working again. Ironically he will now likely walk away and get a job abroad somewhere. The comments did raise a smile!
Am I alone in thinking he will have walked away with a very generous severance package which will in due course cause outrage to many parents.It appears too smooth and too clean cut to think otherwise.The deal is already done.Maybe I am being too suspicious ?

Bonuses to join schools, possible severance pay when you leave the next one ... I never thought of state education as the place to increase your personal wealth.
