In borough passes, for those about to submit their CAF

Post by Hopeful123*** »

Just thought I'd let you know that Bexley Council confirmed that just under 500 pupils living in the Bexley borough were deemed selective and that normally all of these are offered a place at a Bexley grammar school. Assuming that all of these choose a Bexley school (which I'm sure they won't) that leaves just over 300 places for OOC pupils.

I hope this helps when trying to decide what order to put schools down on your CAF.

Do you know how that compares to the previous years?

That seems a lot to me from what I've seen from data from previous years. And the opposite to my personal network this year.

Maybe they are including the independent schools too because it's usually closer to 400-430 for the Bexley primaries.

The numbers include all primaries in Bexley, including private schools. BC have definitely confirmed the number is a little under 500 and apparently, within the Bexley Borough, slightly more boys than girls passed this year.

Sorry, I don't know what the numbers were for previous years. I'm new to the forum but thought it would be helpful to share this information given the CAFs are due in soon.

Gosh, I didn't realise the proportion of out of borough passes was so high - I think something like 1835 or 1865 passed in total? I suppose Bexley is surrounded by non selective areas.

If you search the Bexley section of this forum you will find a spreadsheet obtained under FOI with all those who passed last year.
In 2013, I know that only 7% of Bexley children passed.

I'm sure there is a FOI request with all the data from this year's Bexley 2017 test on the net already down to each school. Good luck everyone!

I suppose it means the Bexley comprehensives are more genuinely comprehensive, like the Bromley ones (compared to say Kent). I have a friend whose son chose Coopers over Chis & Sid and is loving it.

Here's the data for 2017. Unfortunately they don't say if they are IC or OOC:
