We were impressed by the Bullers Boys presentation. It is a bit of a punt as it’s new but Bullers girls is a very good school.
They said the catchment is likely to be 2.5 miles and as said previously, you can apply seperately to the CAF.

This would be excellent as you have a 7th choice! So, on allocation day you could be allocated two and then choose?Fingerscrossedmum wrote:We were impressed by the Bullers Boys presentation. It is a bit of a punt as it’s new but Bullers girls is a very good school.

I am very late to this but if your son is on the spectrum I would, in your place, pick an all-boys school and I'd go for Hurstmere or St Colmbas.
St C has a provision for pupils with autism which, whilst not appropriate for your son, means that overall the school has more of an understanding of the sort of things that might come up.
Likewise, Hurstmere has an excellent rep for students on the spectrum.
So there you go - the opinion of a random on the internet if that helps you!

Probably very late but I have friends with boys who are very happy and doing well at Ravenswood. No personal experience beyond that. I know it had a bad report a few years ago but is now rated good and the bad review seems to have been handled well and the mums I know say they know the school is going in the right direction rather than some schools which are sitting on their laurels. Good luck!

Thank you all, you've all been incredibly helpful.
Catjellycat can I ask why you'd go for an all boys school over a mixed?

Salsa - Bullers Boys will make their offers on 22nd Feb and the National Allocation day is 1st March, so you can have 2 offers. Not sure how it will work re accepting places though.

Yes, that’s how it normally happens with new schools. They operate their admissions for the first year. I guess you are given a few days to decide?Fingerscrossedmum wrote:Salsa - Bullers Boys will make their offers on 22nd Feb and the National Allocation day is 1st March, so you can have 2 offers. Thanks for this info - I applied just before the deadline as it looks like a good non-selective back up option.salsa wrote:Yes, that’s how it normally happens with new schools. I agree. I think that a new school is bound to have small classes and everyone may be enthusiastic about making the school a success.
Now the long wait until March. I’m glad I don’t have to do it again. These months seemed so long and, like many, I found the wait hard to bear, so I got busy with several plans, B, C, etc. and I was such a bore just talking about schools. Still, I survived it.
Best of luck everyone and keep posting here to help you with the wait!
