Hi, I'm also interested in mock exams for the Kent Test. If anyone has recommendations, can you PM me please? Thank you.

St Olaves PTA running mocks soon and places still available. Multiple choice. Open to boys and girls.

The St O test is not the same as the Newstead test though. PettswoodFiona will know more about the current form of the Newstead test. It used to be a four part test with each section timed separately.

When DD sat the test there wasn't the option of the St Olaves PTA test so I am not familiar with it. DD sat some other tests which I will PM about. Newstead just has NVR and VR, St Olaves test is different and in two stages.

Thanks PWF. Yes, Newstead were (and probably still are) NVR and VR. I am assuming they have not changed but please check as they have changed their admission criteria slightly for 2019. There were four papers, 15 mins (I think) is allocated to each paper. Candidates are read the rules and are given all four papers at the beginning of the exam and told when to start work on each one and when to stop work on each one. When stopped, they are put to one side on the same desk. If candidates are seen by invigilators going back to amend or work on a previous one, as can sometimes be the case as they may not complete the whole 15 min paper in that time, the candidate is then penalised. It is important that you prepare your child for the way in which the exam is conducted to reduce their anxiety. They may not finish each paper but they must follow the timings.
If you have a tutor they should already know the form of this entrance exam.
OP, you were asking for a daughter, but for anyone else reading, the St O's test is in two stages on different dates.

The original post was asking about mock tests. The St Olaves mock test has nvr, vr, maths and a multiple choice comp (each section 15 minutes if I remember correctly). As stated, it may not be the exact format of the Newstead exam but provides very useful experience of sitting timed tests in an unfamiliar setting. There were many local girls at the mock tests for St Olaves last year so I assume it might be relevant to the Newstead exam.

Yes grgygirl, I know the OP was asking about mocks. I was just pointing out the particular style of the Newstead test. My DD never took the St O's mock test so I have no idea if it is similar. If the St O's mocks are timed 15 min sessions perhaps it is more similar than I realised. But only book one session as I believe they run multiple sessions, but use the same exam mock paper each time.
