D-Minus for exam factory schools

Post by thickasabrick »

The Sunday Times reported yesterday under this headline that Ofsted is consulting on changing league tables to some measure about 'quality of education' to stamp out 'cramming for exams' and 'narrowly teaching to the test'.

This does not concern one school in particular but of course it is a Bromley school that triggered this response.

It suggests that schools will be downgraded for not providing a 'rich' education including arts and drama. It mentions one particular practice of entering pupils for the driving test to gain extra league table points. I had no idea.

Ofsted is probably not the first port of call for league tables - will it make a difference if others (ParentPower) don't follow suit?
