Not that this is going to make much difference to choices as those considering the school have either already submitted your CAF or the Ofsted rating isn't your key driver, but you may still be curious of the outcome.

Parents have received communications from the Headteacher of the results of the recent Ofsted visit and it is another Outstanding. The two points for improvement were:

 a streamlined system is in place for recording and checking pastoral matters
 the teaching of A-level science and mathematics routinely provides stretch and challenge to ensure that all students make the progress of which they are capable.

Anyone who is worried that the school is a hothouse may be particularly interested in the part of the letter mentions "An impressive and wide range of extra-curricular activities develop pupils’ confidence and self-esteem effectively. For example, pupils benefit from opportunities in music, sport, outdoor adventure and community engagement. In addition, other activities provide pupils with enjoyment and recreation in areas other than academic study, such as bee-keeping, yoga for the mind and knitting club."

The full letter will be published soon on the Ofsted website soon we are told.

Interested to understand why they inspected an Outstanding school; does it say?

It says "This inspection was conducted under section 8 of the Education Act 2005 and in accordance with Ofsted’s published procedures for inspecting schools with no formal designation. The inspection was carried out as a result of Ofsted’s risk assessment procedures." which is as clear as mud to me!

So there was a trigger from the risk assessment - interesting. Any clues as to what the trigger was?

...possibly something to do with the recording and checking of pastoral matters? (As that is one of the factors they have been advised to streamline?)

It is probably routine with slight delay as the school transferred to an Academy.
Quote:
Most outstanding schools are exempt from routine inspections. We formally carry out a risk assessment of exempt schools three years after their most recent full inspection and regularly thereafter, but do not publish a report.

Outstanding special schools, pupil referral units and maintained nursery schools are not exempt from routine inspection.

We can inspect schools at any time if we have concerns.

We normally give notice on the afternoon of the working day before an inspection. We can also inspect schools without notice.

mitasol - it is not routine if it is being published.

Guest, can you tell us what a trigger could be?

It can be anything but from reading the report I think it could be to do with Maths and science results. They comment specifically on them.

I don't think there is anything for parents to worry about.
