Hi- Any updates on WL movement?

Saw this request to school recently by someone. Unfortunately nothing new came out in the reply.
https://www.whatdotheyknow.com/request/ ... ng-1758784" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

the query "waiting list ranks details at a high level", school said did not understand.

Although School provided the same information for 2020
https://www.whatdotheyknow.com/request/ ... _list_2020" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

"...and the waiting list ranks details at a high level: ?
Rank 215..."

Many GS have already started releasing their WLs.

It is interesting to see the 2021 Grammar Schools league table based on Gov data:
https://britannia-study.com.my/top-grammar-schools-uk" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
Ranking of some of the surrounding GS:
QE-1, Wilson's-12, Invicta-19, DartfordGS-21, Latymer-29, Gravesend-45, Weald of kent-50, Tiffin-52, St Olaves-55, Sutton-63

DS's in proximity to some of the above schools and presently in WL there, would also contribute to a lot of movement at Olaves.

There are lies, damned lies and statistics as someone once said, that data is now several years old despite having a title of 2021 as it is based on exam results from 2019 (taken from the Government compare schools portal) as the 2020 data was not used. Also it is how you sort it. For example they have crudely sorted it by % passed, so you get one outlier and it affects the order they have deemed, but if you sort by progress 8 you get a different set of ranks. Tiffin with a Progress 8 of 1.18 would be 6th, but as 'only' 99% got five or more 9-4s they slip down to number 48 in that list. Picking a school isn't all about results. Olaves used to push push push and look what happened there, you need a balance for the mental health of our young people. Some people judge by number of Oxbridge offers, but one of DD's friends has a brother at Olaves who is proud that he is taking up an apprenticeship with Dyson and a few years ago may have been dissuaded but now the school has got better at not trying to fit everyone into the same pigeon hole.

If you see a school pushing all their pupils down one route (must do all sciences, must do a language, must apply to a top university) then do question it and ask if that is going to allow your child to be the best they can be or is it what someone else wants them to be for their image and league table statistics.
