Just started going through those Bond and Nfer practice papers and was wondering how close to the real thing are they? Are these pretty much exactly how our children will see the actual exam? If not, can we get hold of some proper ex papers? Thanks :(

Nfer multiple choice papers are meant to be closest to the Bexley and Kent tests. But only 4 of each subject are available so it's best to work up to them so your child does them nearer the exam. I'd probably do the Bond stuff now and any similar looking papers you can get your hands on. The material available on this site gets a good press, though I haven't used it myself.

It's impossible to get hold of real papers used in the Bexley 11+ I'm afraid. I wouldn't get too hung up on what the exams look like. If your child is expecting a particular format and then it's slightly different in the real thing they might be thrown. Have you had a look at the "familiarisation" papers available on Bexley Council's website? These are a lot simpler than the real thing!

If you want your child to do the Kent tests (for Wilmington/Dartford) as well you will need to keep an eye on the application date. Last time I checked (last week) they hadn't approved the selection process for this coming year, but general opinion is it's likely to be the same as last year (ie exams in September - Saturday for out of county applicants) and applications in around June/July.

I'm sure you know this, but just in case, the Bexley exam is now just Maths and VR (multiple choice) and the Kent test is Maths, VR, NVR and a writing piece (only marked for borderline cases) again, all multiple choice.

Good luck!
