Marine biologist
My daughter is doing her GCSE right now and she is thinking of going for a marine biologist. Has anyone got any idea about it. I have googled to get more information but would like to know from people whose children/family members/friends has done this course or doing it?
Re: Marine biologist
DD applied for marine biology the first time around but ended up delaying slightly and chose a broader course in the end. With hindsight I'm glad she did as it gave her another few years to decide what she was really interested in. She could still have specialised in marine biology at master's had she still been interested. In fact she went in a different direction (& is still doing something related to her degree, unlike most people from her course).
I also have a degree in biological sciences & would have loved the opportunity to study marine biology!
It is very early to decide on a speciality (that she hasn't actually studied at all) at 15/16.

Re: Marine biologist
I agree with Scary Mum - it is quite a specialised area and much can change between 15 and 21/22 . Sometimes better to look at a broader subject like Biology and then specialise later in the degree or do a masters.

Thank you scary mum for replying promptly and sharing your experience. I am just trying to understand myself about the course. Your are right a lot will change from 16 to 20/21. Let’s see. Right now waiting for the results for her GCSE. hermanmunster you said right a lot will change. Will see in a near future what her interests are when she starts her A levels.
