Does retaken matter?

Post by GM »

My DD had retaken her Biology exam she had in Year 10 (She got a B but she wants an A/A*). My question is does retaken a GCSE exam will affect her for apply for Oxbridge? I heard that Oxbridge didn't like people to retake exams.

I have been filling in forms online recently and every single one had drop down boxes for my qualifications asking how many times I sat each exam. So the policy that some schools have had pushing students to take GCSE's early because they can always retake is going to backfire on them in quite a big way. But in your case Oxbridge don't like B's and they don't like resits so I would def do the resit as it is only one and at least get the A. Is she likely to secure the A? DG

She had 78, so scored 'B' in year 10's exam. She felt easier when she resit it this time. Only Maths exam left now and it's the subject she's good at it. DD is looking forward to her summer holiday now.
