Paramjeet - GCSE is not modular anymore anyway! Some subjects e.g. GCSE Maths do not have coursework.

It's interesting that you're relieved?! I, on the other hand, am wondering where it leaves the kids who are in year 8,9 and 10?
Both of my DDs are in that middle ground, the only 3 years inbetween :? Where does this leave them? They are going to be doing linear exams (I think) already, but will these be discredited because of the new system?
I feel sorry for any kids sitting 2014-16 :( I hope it's taken into account.

EmeraldE, your children in Ys 8&9 will be doing linear exams anyway, I don't know what other differences have been outlined, but I am convinced of one thing, it is change for the sake of change, nothing more nothing less

ETA - cross posts, yoyo sorry :D

So let me get this right. The whole modular GCSE is to be scrapped forthwith and replaced with what?? The old O level type exams with multiple exam boards before the Ebacc is introduced with its one exam board for the core subjects? I thought the modular system, as was, remained until the Ebacc system was in place. So the current y10, 9 and 8 are in limbo effectively? Have I got that right? If so, SHEESH!!! Worse than I thought!
