You don't have to take anything apart from english's math and the sciences other than that you are free with your choices up to the school's limit.

What your DC will have to take will depend on how your school is time tabling things and which subjects are in which 'columns.' We cannot really advise. Choose subjects your DC enjoys.

Some schools get you to choose the optional choices and then they do the 'blocking' for timetabling.

I'd email the tutor or Head of Year to discuss any queries and that will put your mind at rest.

Surely the school issues a booklet explaining it all? Or the school website? Just call them if not, all schools are different.
