Check out the exam board web site for the course as they will have the full syllabus which will include the specific phrases they are looking for plus past papers with model answers.
For Biology we made a list of definition s and phrases that had to me memorised. This should be much less in physics but might be worth doing?

My son has the AQA textbook from school. It looks brand new too...and is very well laid out.

There should be no need for the school to provide a home copy of the text book, as all students have access to kaboodle, which has an online version plus loads of activities etc.
