Re: Timeline of reforms
Thanks for this G55.
I have a child currently in Year 11 who is planning to start the A Level maths course in September.Strangely the document which explains by year group whether the new or the old exams will apply doesn't refer to Maths ( or Further Maths) at all for AS or A level as far as I can see!! Any ideas?

Re: Timeline of reforms
Maths and F maths A levels aren't changing until teaching from September 2017.
The Government decided it wanted pupils to go through the new GCSE.

Re: Timeline of reforms
I find this! Are the exams papers going to change? Will be same content and style or different?
Re: Timeline of reforms
The drafts for GCSE maths are out but there has been a lot of discussion about them. Edexcel claiming AQA papers are too easy ...
They are currently being trialled to check the exam board standards are similar.
This is the Government's view

Re: Timeline of reforms
Thanks, but slightly confused. Have a missed a U-turn along the way somewhere?
I thought AS levels were being scrapped and I seem to recall Cambridge Uni(?) asking schools to still teach to them as it gave a mid-way benchmark but the government didn't want this to happen and made the AS's a different syllabus to the full A-level. Therefore, schools offering both were at risk of teaching two different courses in the same subject.
Please can someone put me back on the straight and narrow! Thanks
