All the more to appreciate her efforts for educating all children, especially girls, in the poor and developing countries.

Whatever, education Malala received in her small town, was good enough to settle her well in a top English independent school, even with such adverse personal circumstances.

Yep, certainly a very lucky girl out of hundreds not so lucky.

That isn't an identical explanation in simpler terms, but one with a narrower focus. Credit to Malala, to her family who valued education and didn't stifle her views, and to the schools she attended (both private, incidentally); not to a country. I also find it hugely impressive that Malala's previously illiterate mother is taking up the new educational opportunities available to her in the UK. Few,if any, choose to be illiterate, even though societies are quick to try to shift the blame to the individuals.

It takes a special kind of person to twist the shooting of an innocent teenager in the head, who then went on to win the Nobel Prize for her tireless work trying to provide education for countless others (and - let's not forget - she's STILL a teenager) and worked hard at her recovery and subsequent GCSEs and achieved well, to try and breeze it off as the fact that Malala was "lucky".

What has your teenager done today?!

Honestly sbarnes...it brings an expression to mind - if you can't say something nice, don't say anything at all. You always appear to me to have an agenda when you post, which just seems so very sad. Can't we just celebrate with her without trying to twist it into some sort of political comment?

I am with KCG on this. How a girl shot in the head, perhaps a bullet still lodged in her skull, is a lucky one? We can just thank our and her God for saving her life and appreciate her will power and tremendous efforts in overcoming all odds in achieving success in education as well as on World stage.

Whether to give credit to her country or not, well what is country? People make country. Nobel prize belongs to Malala and her country, whether we wish to give credit or not.

Well done Malala! I have just finished reading her autobiography and she is such an inspiration.

According to the timeline a documentary film on her life thus far is out on the 6th November 2015.
