I agree with Sally-Anne: why cut short a wonderful opportunity to spend time in Australia? I would definitely check remarking deadlines with the school first though. We were on holiday for the last two weeks of August this year (for various reasons we couldn't go at any other time) and it was very easy to write to my son's school to give permission for a trusted friend to collect his results from the school. The friend texted the results across immediately so we felt my son had the best of both worlds - still able to enjoy his holiday and the celebratory dinner we had that night, and still able to enjoy the camaraderie of his friends on results day, albeit via social media not in person.

He'll have had two months out there before results day!

What about preparation for sixth form? Many schools set holiday work and some have tests early on to assess suitability for the course. With the demands of the new linear specifications, holiday prep work is even more important.
