This appears to be the latest fad and it seems to be turning into a right fiasco

My DD inde school has avoided it like the plague but those that like to be "early adopter" trend setters seem to be trying to push it.
I am interested in any positive/negative experiences.

Jumping on the bandwagon
My impression is that schools are jumping on the bandwagon without thinking what the requirements for the IB are and as a result not changing changing their teaching to fit the curriculum.
This is the second school I have heard of this year that have had problems with the IB. However it seems to work at other schools from what I have heard.

Does anybody know how the AQA bacc is viewed by the universities? I have trouble understanding its value, since each of the individual parts can be acquired independently of the bacc, and the bacc itself just seems to be a layer of administration. (See http://web.aqa.org.uk/qual/bacc.php)
To complete the bacc, you need:
- 3 A-levels,
- an AS in general studies, critical thinking or citizenship,
- 'Personal development' - basically a part time job and some community work,
- and the Extended Project. Which can be in anything. I wait to see how the schools will cope with mentoring that.
