Sixth Form AS Level Classes
What is the size of your children's AS level classes. I appreciate that it will depend on the subject but would still be interested to know especially for the humanities. Thank you.

much smaller for another humanities subject.
I do not worry so much about numbers; the real problem in one subject is that the other students are not very (not sure how to put this politely) academically able! The teacher therefore teaches to the lowest level (and believe me it is low!) whilst others get bored and the most advanced bits of the subject get skimmed over as most of the others will not understand them.
Miss Magwich has found revision handbooks invaluable and says that if she had not bought them and made her own notes from them her as results would not have been as good.

About 11-12 for History and Geography. If you include Philosophy and Ethics in Humanities I think there are load, about 22, as it's a popular subject this year.
I was told by a teacher that you need about 9 pupils to have a reasonable discussion within History.
This is at an Upper School so not sure on class sizes in a selective school.

I teach 2 A levels subjects in an Upper school.
12 pupils in one, 20 in the other.
And I teach to the top of the group.
