Re: Move from KEGS to CRGS in 6th form
Not from Chelmsford but from another school out of Colchester.
The school makes a big effort to integrate new students and there is particular help for girls.
However some of those coming from all girls school do find it harder to carry on as normal with a load of boys about - some being rather 'distracted' while others are 'overwhelmed' and retreat into their shells.
Standards are very high - in terms of behaviour, dress code and academically. While the staff treat the 6th formers as adults they are still subject to school rules and there is less freedom than at the 6th form college for example.
There is a huge range of extra curricular activities and extra responsibilities to choose from. Getting involved in these is a really good way to make friends.
Please ask any specific questions.

Thanks, that really helps. We had fun talking through her achievements for the application form tonight. Excellent for her self-esteem, which is sadly near rock bottom.

Glad the application filling helped - hope DD picks up, can be a grim time for girls
Re: Move from KEGS to CRGS in 6th form
School sorted the bullying well, but DD is still determined to go to CRGS. Does anyone know when they make their offers?
Re: Move from KEGS to CRGS in 6th form
Think its Feb/March. Few years ago it was same time as the 11+ results/secondary school allocations ( 1st March?)
Will probably tell DD at 'interview'.
