AS Level Choices

My daughter has opted for Maths, Physics, Psychology and Religious Studies at AS level. I am happy that she does what she likes but heard that RS and Psychology might be considered 'soft' options. After surfing the web I am really non the wiser so any advice would be much appreciated. She could swap one for another science but really doesn't want to.

Does she have any idea what she wants to do post-sixth form?

According to the Russell Group Informed Choices publication, RS is fine:

Subjects that can be viewed as ‘facilitating’ subjects are:
• Mathematics and Further Mathematics
• English (Literature)
• Physics
• Biology
• Chemistry
• Geography
• History
• Languages (Classical and Modern)
There are some advanced level subjects which provide suitable preparation
for entry to university generally, but which we do not include within the
facilitating subjects, because there are relatively few degree programmes
where an advanced level qualification in these subjects would be a
requirement for entry. Examples of such subjects include Economics,
Religious Studies and Welsh.

And Psychology (and other social sciences) are fine for plenty of degree courses. Looks okay to me. But it does all rather depend on what the next bit of her plan is

Thank you all for your help. I wish my daughter had a slight clue about what she wants to do. All I know is sitting behind a desk would kill her, she is athletic and active and so good at sport she really needs something which would keep all this going.

Is she not able to do A level PE? If her school does not offer it, could she not fit it in at a local college? If she is really sporty and is interested in taking that interest further then she would be served well by A level PE. DG
