my son is determined on going to Manchester probably so he can his washing done on regular basis and he also met Professor Stephen Furber, Professor of Computer Engineering at The University of Manchester principal designer of the ARM 32 bit RISC microprocessor, found in most handheld electronic devices and in more than 98% of the world’s mobile phones ,and spent an hour talking to the great man on their open day last July

Do be careful basing coices just on academics though - they can move!

but Apple and Goggle are moving into town not to mention the £500 million new Graphene Centre, Manchester has more Noble winners on the staff-role than Oxford and Cambridge combined and ICL is miles behind on this measure.
However I still think ICL is better in terms of teaching!
I think his main motivation is having his washing done ! he can have his own batchelor pad in The Smoke for his concubines
