An entire local authority where no student can take A Levels

The borough of Knowsley is about to close its only sixth form as numbers have been dropping.

How terrible for local teenagers who want to go to University.

It seems that as it is an academy the government cannot intervene. I find this really shocking. The rights of the child specifies play areas but not it seems a place to be able to gain qualifications to go to university.

Whatever happened to equal opportunities for all? What are these students supposed to do? DG

Aren't they supposed to stay in education or training until 18 now? How do they cover that requirement?
