Dh and I went to see him play Hamlet at the Globe in pre children days and we actually left after Act 3 and went drinking instead! What a philistine I am
Re: English Literature
I cannot say that I like the play Jerusalem by Butterworth that I had to study for AS level in English literature, but the little excerpts that I have watched with Mark Rylance as Johnny were rather well played… It is just that Johnny is rather a repulsive character!!! Do not ask me why such a play in on the A level syllabus!piggys wrote: I cannot abide Mark Rylance though so I'm going to give Othello perf a miss.
In the film ‘Dunkirk’ he does play rather well.
I know that my literature teacher really likes this actor!
I still haven't watched Wolf Hall.
Re: English Literature
I haven't seen any of those ! I will say that Rylance was very good in the film about David Kelly, the chemical weapons inspector who allegedly took his own life during the Blair years.
Re: English Literature
Not seeing it myself. His acting seems to consist entirely of a vacant look. I'm not sure what other people are seeing in him.
Re: English Literature
Do you think he has a vacant look in this video?
