Good evening

DD attends a grammar in Trafford and is predicted strong GCSEs. Her current school has a 6th Form, which she has applied to and will almost certainly gain a place at, however she wants some back up options.

Another 6th Form, also in Trafford, have offered her a place but want ‘acceptance’ of the place within the next month.

Does anyone know if accepting this place excludes accepting any other, or can she accept as many offers as she likes now and then pick which she attends on GCSE results day?

She can. We accepted 3 offers all with different entry requirements and DS declined two via email as soon as he had his results.

If it's a private school, there may be a deposit to pay that you might forfeit if you then decide not to attend. However, with 6th forms, even offers (state or private) can be results dependant - grammar schools here offer places in principle but, once results are out, there is a very short window of time for students to confirm their place in person with their results slip - and even then, places are only confirmed for the top scoring candidates to PAN. Get her to look at them all and apply to 2-3 she likes.

Yes, you can accept multiple offers. If they are not needed decline them on results day, then they will be able to offer that place to someone else. They all offer more places than they have as there is a lot of movement. If you read the small print you'll see they take the highest scoring pupils downwards - so in theory if you don't get there quick enough on results day you could be without a place if you have only accepted one offer and have many higher scorers above you.
