A Level choices

My son, who is currently year 11, has to choose his A level subjects soon. He is considering doing both Economics and Business. Is this a wise choice or are they too similar? He will also do Maths and one other as his school insist they start 4 A-Levels. He doesn't know what he wants to do as a career and at the moment is interested in doing Economics and management at uni although appreciates he may well change his mind as it is so far away. Any advice gratefully received.

He can study either (E or B) at university without having done the A level. Fwiw , DS2's school won't let anyone do both Economics and Business Studies A level because of the overlap.

If he is serious about Economics, A level Maths is more important than the Economics A level, but if he is interested in Economics now and it is offered, why not? But similarly, Business Studies.

What are the other possibilities? History or Geography (or both) would go well (if he is a. doing one or the other or both and doing well and enjoying it / them). Are there any timetabling issues to consider now, or does the school allow a free choice at this stage and deal with problems once they know what students would ideally want to do?
